Welcome to DARA INSTITUTE Our Best Education
DARA Institute is a dynamic organization dedicated to strengthening individuals and communities through practical education, skills development, and research-driven solutions. By integrating multiple sectors such as technology, health, governance, and livelihoods, it delivers hands-on training and evidence-based programs that promote sustainable development. Working in partnership with governments, NGOs, and private sector actors, the Institute focuses on creating inclusive, real-world impact and long-term social and economic growth.
Somalia is one of the most demanding project environments on earth. Drought, displacement, conflict, disease outbreaks and shrinking funding all land on the desk of one person — the project manager. This diploma trains you for exactly that desk.
The Professional Diploma in Humanitarian and Development Project Management is a six-month, practice-driven programme that takes you through the complete project lifecycle: identification, design, proposal writing, budgeting, set-up, planning, implementation, MEAL, reporting and closure. Nothing is theoretical. Everything is built.
What makes this programme different is where it is grounded. You will not study project management in the abstract — you will learn it inside the systems you actually work in: the cluster system, the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, the Somalia Humanitarian Fund, the National Transformation Plan, the Health Sector Strategic Plan and the Essential Package of Health Services, DHIS2, IPC classification, and national NGO registration and compliance requirements.
From Week 2 you choose one real project. Every assignment for the next twenty-two weeks adds a professional document to that project file. By graduation you hold a complete, donor-ready project package — fourteen finished documents — and you defend it before a panel of practitioners from NGOs, UN agencies, donors and ministries who score it using a genuine donor evaluation grid.
You do not leave with notes. You leave with a project, a portfolio, and the confidence to run both.
